Memphis rapper Miscellaneous of Boss Life Entertainment (Miscellaneous’ own label) has dropped a new music video for his latest song which channels the “Black Lives Matter” movement. Black Lives Matter started as simply a phrase that has since turned into an international activist movement originating in the African-American community following police violence believed strongly to be targeting black people.
The phrase and hashtag #BlackLivesMatter followed the acquittal of George Zimmerman in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, the shooting of Michael Brown by Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson, and the death of Eric Garner who died after a police chokehold in New York City. The movement has continued into many other cases of police violence on black people such as Tamir Rice, Walter Scott, Sandra Bland, Freddie Gray and others.
In the new music video Black Lives Matter,” rapper Miscellaneous channels the movement and shows multiple clips of multiple acts of the violence that has led to the movement.
The song is a collaboration featuring artist Ardie and was produced by music producer Montana Trax.
