Jennifer Hudson’s Mother and Brother Murdered, Suspect Arrested

The mother of singer/actress Jennifer Hudson, Darnell Hudson Donerson, 57, and Hudson’s brother, Jason Hudson, were found slain in their South Side Chicago home. Police are currently holding William Balfour, the significant other of Hudson’s older sister Julia, as a suspect in the double homicide. The two, Darnell Hudson Donerson and Jason Hudson, were found dead shortly before 3 p.m. Friday. Hudson’s mother was found on the living room floor and the brother was found in a bedroom with gunshot wounds. Police say there were no signs of forced entry.

According to reports, Balfour, who was paroled in 2006 after convictions for attempted murder, vehicular hijacking and receiving stolen property, was taken into custody and since is not cooperating with authorities. Although Balfour is a suspect, he’s not the only one, police have been talking to other possible suspects as well.

In addition to the unfortunate news of the death of Darnell Hudson Donerson and Jason Hudson, an APB has been put out for Jennifer Hudson’s 7-year-old nephew, Julian King.

The crime took place about 5 miles from the home of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama on the 7000 block of South Yale Ave. in Englewood.
