Legendary Memphis rapper Al Kapone recently shared a video of him in the studio with the late film director John Singleton who recently passed after suffering a stroke and being taken off of life support.
John Singleton and Al Kapone built a close relationship when he chose Al Kapone to score music for the movie Hustle & Flow which Singleton worked on as a producer with Memphis film director Craig Brewer.
Singleton eventually chose Al Kapone’s song “Whoop That Trick” which Kapone wrote and produced. The song “Whoop That Trick” would become one of the significant tracks for the movie along with Three 6 Mafia’s Oscar award-winning song “It’s Hard out Here for a Pimp”.
Thank u for believing in Craig and creating opportunities for me and many others. It was an honor to be part of your great legacy! Your spirit lives on! My condolences to the family.🙏🏽 #ripjohnsingleton
