A police is claiming he grabbed his gun instead of his taser by accident in the fatal shooting and killing of an unarmed black man named Eric Courtney Harris in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
73-year-old Tulsa, Oklahoma, “reserve deputy” police officer Bob Bates says the shooting of 44 year old Eric Courtney Harris seen in a video of a police sting operation was an accident.
A nervous looking Eric Courtney Harris is seen sitting in a car unknowingly attempting to sell a gun to an undercover when suddenly he sees an unmarked car with dark tinted windows pulling up near them. Harris jumps out the car and starts running.
Police chase down and catch Eric Courtney Harris, and an officer is heard yelling “taser, taser” in the video but suddenly a shot is fired, hitting Eric Courtney Harris.
The gunshot was fired by officer Bob Bates who is then heard saying “Oh I shot him, I’m sorry.”
Another officer is now seen pressing Eric Courtney Harris’ face into the pavement with his knee and the weight of his body, while Eric Courtney Harris is saying ‘he shot me’ and then “I’m losing my breathe.”
An officer replies ‘f*ck your breath!’ words now heard all over social media.
Eric Courtney Harris died afterwards.
