‘Sex Kitten’ Actress Eartha ‘Catwoman’ Kitt Dies Xmas Day At 81

Sultry singer, actress and “sex kitten” Eartha Kitt, 81, better known for her role as Catwoman in the 1960’s Batman television series, died on Christmas Day in New York City. Kitt is stated to have died after battling colon cancer.

Many may remember the South Carolina native from her movie role in Boomerang co-starring Eddie Murphy and Robin Givens as ‘Lady Eloise’. According to the celebrity star’s publicist, Patty Freeman, Kitt died in New York with her daughter, Kitt Shapiro, at her side.

Eartha Kitt gained notoriety for her charitable contributions as an activist for voting rights and charitable performances in support of organization for HIV/AIDS.

Eartha Kitt’s career actually began when she started with Katharine Dunham’s dance company in the 1940’s which she later launched her career on Broadway at 18 years old.

It’s even more heart-warming that the singer would pass on Christmas Holiday being that one of her holiday songs just recently achieved a gold record before her death — the 1950’s recorded song “Santa Baby”.
