The Memphis Police Department’s organized crime unit, Blue C.R.U.S.H., shut down two nightspots in Memphis over the weekend including Uptown Hughes and High Point Pinch Bar and Grill for illegal activity.
According to the Commercial Appeal, the Hughes and bar and grill owners Pinch Partners Investment Co. have been ordered to respond to the allegations in court Friday.
Shelby County District Attorney General’s Office released the following:
Memphis police responded to more than 80 calls at Uptown Hughes from March 2008 to March 2009 for violent crime, drug use and theft.
Undercover officers saw patrons using drugs inside the business, and large crowds of people drinking outside.
According to the affidavit, a drug dog found 11 plastic bags containing marijuana inside a jacket in a recording studio in the club and Hughes, the owner, was arrested at the club and charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to manufacture, deliver or sell.
Police were reportedly called to the High Point Pinch Bar and Grill 23 times between March 2008 and February 2009.
