Hayes’ family also claims that they did not know that Phillips was 13 years-old as she would come out of the store with tobacco products.

Hayes says his time with Phillips, which was fourteen days on the run, was ‘worth it’ except for leaving behind his niece and nephew.

Meanwhile, news has come out that the couple reportedly ran away together because an alleged abuse in the Phillips’ family.

Shawn Phillips, Cheyenne’s father, claims that the abuse allegations are “completely bogus.”

As far as charges, Phillips, being underage, is facing multiple charges in juvenile court while Hayes is up on burglary, criminal theft, criminal mischief as well as other charges.

Both teens face a ‘minor’ forgery charge for allegedly passing forged checks in South Carolina.
