A 22 year-old man faked his way into playing basketball for a local Memphis high school by using an illegal transcript to live out his dream, however his dream caused the team members of the high school basketball team to lose theirs in the long run.
Following the death of Ridgeway High School coach Jimmy McClain, 49, who was killed in his home, a Memphis man reportedly named McKenzie Sewell, 22, has been accused of using a fake transcript along with his GED to enroll at the Memphis, TN high school with the help of his wife, who allegedly signed school papers as his guardian to play basketball.
McKenzie Sewell, who is reported as being an alleged former gang member from New Orleans, was ineligible to play as well as attend Memphis City Schools due to a policy, which is against adults attending school with underage teens.
Sewell, who wore the #22 during the game, resulted in Ridgeway High School basketball team being disqualified from Region 8-AAA semi-finals against Whitehaven High School as the team approached #3 in the state.
Due to McKenzie Sewell, Ridgeway was removed from the tournament playoffs and thus-far has forfeited the game which McKenzie Sewell participated in.
