Memphis rapper DJ Paul of Three 6 Mafia has affirmed that fellow Memphis rappers 8Ball & MJG were ‘Poppin’ years before Three 6 Mafia released their album in 1995, referring to the infamous Memphis rap classic “Mystic Styles.” Ironically, 8Ball and MJG were featured on Three 6 Mafia’s 2005 billboard hit single Stay Fly off their album “Most Known Unknown.”
In the interview, which was with show host and interviewer DJ Vlad, DJ Paul, joined by Memphis rap duo Seed of 6ix, spoke on the duo ‘Ball and G’ as he was asked about them by Vlad. This was following the Seed of 6ix talking about growing up in a Three 6 Mafia environment in Memphis.
Paul stated that they (Three 6 Mafia) were definitely in the streets in Memphis with their music in the early 90’s but it was most definitely 8 Ball and MJG that ‘got it poppin’ first.
