‘Pacman’ Jones Pays Off $20K Casino Gambling Debt

Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones has paid a $20,000 gambling debt to Caesar’s Palace after Las Vegas authorities threatened to file felony criminal charges.

Adam “Pacman” Jones has paid a $20,000 gambling debt to Caesar’s Palace, Jones’ agent said on Friday. The Dallas Cowboys cornerback, who is under a suspension from the NFL (National Football League), sent the 20K in the form of a check. The money was sent one day after Las Vegas authorities had requested felony theft and fraud charges be filed against Jones.

The criminal complaint alleged that Jones wrote three bad checks.

Along with the $20,000, Jones must also pay an additional $4,675 for the district attorney’s processing fees and penalties, which Jones’ lawyer Manny Arora says his client will also pay.

The checks Jones allegedly wrote were two bad checks for $5,000 and one for $10,000 last Sept. 3 at Caesars Palace which was first reported by the Las Vegas Sun.

As far as affecting the NFL player’s career, the National Football League actually has no policy against its players gambling in casinos, so long as they don’t bet on NFL games, however, the league is examining the actions of Jones who was recently traded from the Tennessee Titans to the Dallas Cowboys.

“We’re aware of it and we are looking into it,” league spokesman Greg Aiello said Friday.

Jones, who has been arrested six times since being selected sixth in the 2005 NFL draft, has not been paid since his suspension in March 2007 so he has been forced to move around assets to pay his bills, said Arora.

Before his suspension, ‘Pacman’ was scheduled for a $1.74 million base salary in 2008 and had been under contract through 2009.
