Race to the Final Four Baylor Lady Bears vs. Duke Blue Devils

Welcome to the block party Duke Blue Devils as they fell 51-48 to the Baylor Lady Bears. The city of Memphis all came out to see the premiere freshman known as Brittney Griner. Duke, obviously being the favorite to win in this matchup, were down early to Baylor. Getting that block party kicking, Griner started early setting a record for most blocked shots in a tournament.

There was a long stretch where Duke was in complete control and it seemed as if there was no hope for Baylor.

Duke opened up their largest lead with 5 minutes to go in the game. Baylor hit their 1st 3 pointer of the game and did not look back. One 3 pointer cut Duke’s lead to only 1. Then the crowd erupted with cheer as they were watching their Baylor Bears not give up and fight for what they want. Still down 1pt, Baylor gets a steal, Griner ends up with the rock as she hits the jumper with 45 seconds left, sealing the game.

“I knew we needed that bucket so I did everything I could to get position and to have [the defender] pinned behind me and step through and go up strong,” Griner said.

You have to go up strong everyone because that gives you the chance to get the bucket. Not only will you score you possibly may get a call.

Now, the Baylor Lady Bears take on the Uconn Huskies who are on a 76 game win steak.

I will keep you updated on this ultimate matchup.
