NCAA Possible Tournament Expansion

The NCAA is thinking of possibly expanding the tournament teams. With what is now a 65 team tournament, could involve as many as 96 teams.

They were initially talking about 68 or 80 teams but the more teams the better the financing.

The men’s tournament last expanded in 2001, adding one team to the 64-team field that was set in 1985.

The expansion has not been approved yet but is being seriously considered. It would be played during the same time frame as the current three-week tournament. Also, the tournament would include first-round byes for 32 teams.
