What a tournament, What a tournament!!!! There have been upsets like never before. This is the first time in a long time where only one #1 seed makes it to the final four. Today’s matchups were Tennessee vs. Michigan St. and Baylor taking on Duke or should I say Duke taking on Baylor.
That loss was a sour taste in Tennessee’s mouth, because they were right there at it. All those missed freethrows played a huge part in their downfall.
Michigan State now moves on to play Butler in the final four, which will be a challenge all on its own. Michigan State reached its 6th final four in 12 years with this win…. impressive.
The game everyone was waiting for was Baylor and Duke. Baylor, who are a bunch of explosive guys fell to the Blue Devils late in a 78-71 loss.
Baylor had complete control of this game for 32 minutes, but unfortunately for them, it’s a 40 minute game. Duke came back and killed Baylor with their offensive rebounds that created open 3pt shots. It seemed, with 1:18 secs to go, that Baylor may come back because they were down by only 2pts, then the inevitable happened.
Baylor forward Quincy Acy upset with the calling of the game went over to Duke’s Nolan Smith and tried to create a altercation. Acy was hit with a deadbolt technical foul which not only gave Duke 2 shots but they got the ball back also. That was most definitely the end point in the game.
Many ask the question of why would Acy go over and jeopardize his team’s chances and, for that, we will never know.
Duke has a greater challenge on their hands next. Heading into the final four, they are matched up to play West Virginia. This final four will be a sight to see.
