There have always been injuries in the game of basketball, it is inevitable. But, for the last couple of years it seems that the hits are getting more and more players.

There have always been injuries in the game of basketball, it is inevitable. But, for the last couple of years it seems that the hits are getting more and more players.

Within this season, the injuries have increased, but its looking like mostly #1 overall draft picks are taking the falls.

To name a few names, there was Shaquille O’Neal for the Cleveland Cavaliers that suffered a thumb injury, and Kenyon Martin with the Denver Nuggets having a torn ligament.

Both of these players might return for the playoffs that are set to start in a couple of weeks.

More serious injuries are of Greg Oden of the Portland Trailblazers and Blake Griffin of the Los Angeles Clippers. Oden, who has had consistent injuries throughout his short NBA career, has never played a full NBA season. Blake, on the other hand, has never played in a NBA game.

Is it a coincidence or just a bit of bad luck for the #1 overall draft pick this season? These two expected arrivals in the next NBA game could come as early as next season.
