Vandals struck The Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation in Stone Mountain, Georgia over the weekend. The Foundation’s building was graffitied and a hangman’s noose was placed around the neck of a statue of the late Tupac Shakur.
The statue is made of bronze and stands, ironically, in the foundation’s Peace Garden. The noose around the neck qualifies the felonious vandalism as a hate crime. The second incident happened early Monday when the bronze statue of Tupac Shakur was further vandalized. A male suspect has been arrested and is currently in custody. The hate crime is currently being investigated by the Dekalb County Sheriff’s Office.
