Vandals Strike Tupac Shakur Foundation

Vandals struck The Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation in Stone Mountain, Georgia over the weekend. The Foundation’s building was graffitied and a hangman’s noose was placed around the neck of a statue of the late Tupac Shakur.

The Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation in Stone Mountain, Georgia was reportedly the victim of several attacks of vandalism over the weekend. The first incident was reported to have occurred the morning of Saturday, October 20. It was during the early morning hours that vandals reportedly defaced the outsides of the foundation and more significantly, tied a noose around the neck of the statue of the legendary rapper.

The statue is made of bronze and stands, ironically, in the foundation’s Peace Garden. The noose around the neck qualifies the felonious vandalism as a hate crime. The second incident happened early Monday when the bronze statue of Tupac Shakur was further vandalized. A male suspect has been arrested and is currently in custody. The hate crime is currently being investigated by the Dekalb County Sheriff’s Office.
