The bodies of two missing U.S. Soldiers who were kidnapped in May ’07 during an ambush attack in South Baghdad, have been found.
The families of the soldiers who where notified by the military of the identified bodies have expressed their grief and shock of the announcement.
“Every day that he’s been missing has been a day of ‘what could have been’ … but after hearing the news … I’m still in shock,” said Gordon Dibler, stepfather of Army Pvt. Byron W. Fouty of Waterford, Mich.
“It’s a very sad relief. But I know I have to go forward, not just for our family, but for the other men and women who are still doing their job over there,” added Dibler.
Ramon “Andy” Jimenez the father of Alex Jimenez said the news “shattered all hope” the family had to “see Alex walk home on his own.”
The two father’s of the family have since become friends over the past year, and according to Dibler, have always considered the two missing soldiers “our nation’s sons.”
