Long recognized as one of Underground’s top MC’s, a common name in the Memphis rap game, Gangsta Blac, remains in the minds of many.
Known most for hit single “S.O.U.T.H Parkway” on his 1999 album, “74 Minutes Of Bump”, Gangsta Blac has recorded with some of the top names in the game including Three 6 Mafia, Playa Fly and many others and is noted as the first local rapper to have his own radio shows in Memphis; Down South Flava, on Hot 107.1 FM, and Da Gangsta Blac Show, on Clear Channel K97.1 FM. The South Memphis native also headed up his label in 2002, Taylor Made Records.
This is the same Gangsta Blac which has managed to release 7 well-known solo albums over a decade’s time including “Can It Be” (1996), “I Am Da Gangsta” (1998), “74 Minutes of Bump” (1999), “Down South Flava” (2001), “Da Undaground King” (2002), “The Mayor and The Pimp” (2002) and “Gangsta Blac” (2004). Now, still in the game after a decade of releases (how many can say that), fans may possibly can look forward to another album release “Parkway Drama” from Gangsta Blac.
Will fans be ready to re-elect the “Mayor of South Memphis” or has he never given up the position? Whatever the case, you can rest assure, fans are definitely long awaiting the “Return Of Da Gangsta” from South Memphis, Gangsta Blac.
