Driving while Black

Picture this, you’re driving down the street minding your own business, and all of a sudden, you are pulled over.

Picture this, you’re driving down the street minding your own business, and all of a sudden, you are pulled over. You do not really know why you are stopped all you know is that the police are asking you questions that are not needed. You think twice and then realize you where profiled as a good person to pull over.

Racial profiling is making it a crime to be caught, driving while black. Some people laugh at the thought of driving while black, while it is too true for many African American people that face it everyday of their lives.

Racial profiling is when police or others stereotype a person because of their race and appearance. It happens all the time, and blacks all across the country are trying to do something to end this act of racism against blacks and other minorities.

Blacks are targeted to be stopped and questioned while driving because this country believes that blacks are the leaders in crime and drug activity. While blacks are arrested and convicted for almost half of drug crimes, they are more than less of the people actually using and or selling the drugs. It has been found that whites are actually the majority of crack users. Yet and still blacks are arrested more than twice as much as whites for crack or other drug crimes. This makes it seem that it is a crime to be black in America. While many whites will say no, it has to be something else; blacks face the reality and know that at times it is a crime to simply be black in America. Blacks are faced with disadvantages everyday of their lives, and driving while black, (DWB) goes to show that it is real and must be stopped by blacks for the rest of the country to see what is happening.
