The BET Awards 2007 started off smoothly with Jennifer Hudson and Jennifer Holiday opening the show followed by boxing announcer Michael Buffer introducing the host, comedian/actress Mo’Nique who did her rendition of Beyonce with her group of plus sized dancers she calls Phat Girlz (Pretty Hot and Thick).

After Mo’Nique gave props to Beyonce, T.I. performed “Big Thangs Poppin” and won “Hip-Hop Artist of the Year” in which during his acceptance speech he apologized for his recent feud and fist fight on June 24.

“On behalf of my partner T.I.P., I want to apologize for what happened the other day,” stated T.I. after punching and scuffling with Ludacris’ manager Chaka Zulu. “They say there’s a fine line between brilliance and insanity. It was very unfortunate and very inappropriate. But I don’t want to divert attention from the positiveness of the BET Awards. That’s what is more important.” He also stated that his actions where “un-royal” and that wasn’t how he should have acted.

While T.I. apologized, Ludacris accepted his award for “Best Collaboration” award for “Runaway Love,” featuring Mary J. Blige. Ludacris stated in his speech, “This was much more than a song, this was a movement. People say there’s no content in hip hop. This song is proof that there’s content in hip-hop,” he added.

Diddy, Keyshia Cole, and Lil Kim performed the song
