MemphisRap.com Celebrates 22 Years of Memphis Rap Website

It’s incredible that MemphisRap.com has been online for 22 years —23 years if you count the year it spent in beta testing.

Over twenty years have passed since the launch of MemphisRap.com. On April 1, 2001, the website officially launched after initially launching as a beta in 2000.

In the 1990s, the website followed in the footsteps of the late founder’s website initiatives Crazy Craze, The Room (The Rap Out Of Memphis), and G.C. Communities.

Before anybody else could have predicted it, the late Hosea ‘MTown’ Mays, Jr., the founder of MemphisRap.com, projected a bright future for Memphis rap and made it happen with the help of web developer and co-founder, Charla Littlejohn.

Not to dive too much, the former rap artist, producer, and futurist Mays initially saw a need for MemphisRap.com after observing the underrepresentation of Memphis rap artists and others in the Mid-South online.

The website prospered over the following two decades as one might anticipate, becoming a center for Memphis rap news, music, interviews, videos, shopping, and more.

As we commemorate the 22nd anniversary of MemphisRap.com, we would like to express our gratitude to the millions of visitors, contributors, and music talent over the years.
