Germans, Africans, Brits, you name it, the world was watching and electrified over presidential hopeful Senator Barack Obama’s historic Democratic victory against well-matched Senator Hillary Clinton.

“This Is Our Moment,” the front page headline of The Star in South Africa, read after Obama’s victory. In Kenya, the homeland of Obama’s grandmother, ‘one of their favorite sons,’ as Obama is referred to, was celebrated throughout towns across Kenya. In London, people have more than hopes for Obama, they put their money where their mouth is, literally. In the country, gambling on anything is just about legal, even politics and the people who betted on Obama, came out as victorious as he did. Tom Joyner, an Obama supporter, said, “It’s a great day in America,” while trying to maintain his excitement when speaking to John Roberts on CNN.

“The road to November or the road to January and beyond, that’s what’s going to be very difficult…,” stated Joyner. “He’s going to be president of the United States at a time when the United States is at it’s worst point and all that’s coming on his watch, all that’s going to be on his table. And it’s going to be very very difficult beyond January,” Joyner added.

In Tokyo, Japan, fans, yes, fans of Obama from a town delegation planned to make their way to the U.S. after Obama’s victory to meet the presidential hopeful according to CNN reporter Kyung Lah.

Obama is also making frontpage headlines over in Germany. In Berlin, people are very much in Barack Obama’s corner and view him as a new John F. Kennedy, according to CNN’s Frederick Pleitgen.

As for China, they question if American voters are ready to elect its first African American president, while India’s favorite is the one who can push them forward in the world both politically and economically.
