Memphis Tigers vs. St. John’s Red Storm

Topping off a great night full of excellent basketball our Memphis Tigers pulled out a banger. This was the best game of the season for the Tigers so far. As the most competitive and exciting game, the Tigers get a ‘shoutingly’ marvelous win of 73-71 over St. John’s Red Storm. The Tigers seem to have a new person step up every night and take one for the team, I guess Wesley Witherspoon was the key guy Wednesday. Putting the city on his back, this young man literally drove us straight to the 2nd round.

With 9.9 secs left in the game, Wesley drove down the left side of the lane and lofted a shot high off the glass over St. John’s Anthony Mason Jr. The ball bounced on the rim twice and dropped through as the horn sounded for the victory. Wow, that was some shot. The officials reviewed it of course and declared it good. Who knew that the NIT would possess such excitement especially since the Tigers suffered that miserable loss by 1pt to Houston in C-Usa.

“I saw it when I shot it, and it hit the top of the backboard and rolled around a little bit,” Wesley said. “When I shot it, I didn’t think it was going to go in. Then I heard the crowd erupt. That’s when I knew it was good.”

Wesley scored 18pts on the night including the game winner that he will be reminded of by Memphis fans for a long time.

“I’d like to tell you that I devised an unbelievable play,” Memphis coach Josh Pastner said, “but I always say the best offense is a breakdown offense. When you have players, you let them play.”

The city of Memphis is elated that Pastner let his players play. Great job Tigers, way to go and take a win. The Tigers 2nd round of the NIT (National Invitational Tournament) will be on Friday when they host Ole Miss. We are looking for another great game and win. Let’s support our teams because they all need us.
