Memphis Teen Nightclub Suffers From Arson; Estimated $300K In Fire Damage

A popular teen nightclub and hangout in Memphis, TN has allegedly become the target of arson as it was set on fire early Monday morning.

A Memphis teen nightclub and hangout for those ages 13-19 years-old has allegedly become the target of arson. The club which was quickly becoming a new hangout for the youth was set a-blaze reportedly on early Monday.

According to WMCTV, club owner Lisa Jackson started the club on last year to keep teens out of trouble and now it seems that trouble may have found the club.

“It’s wrong it’s just wrong,” Jackson stated regarding her teen nightclub being set on fire.

Authorities say the fire was intentionally set overnight and was possibly started near the DJ booth and near the billiard room.

Tennessee Highway Patrol officers have stated they noticed smoke coming from the club at around 2:30 a.m. Monday.

Memphis Firefighters put out the fire, but not before the 10,000 square feet club suffered close to an estimated half-million dollars in damage.

This much damage may could have possibly been avoided as investigators say the building did not have a working sprinkler system.

Jackson is hoping that one of the 22 security cameras inside and outside the building caught something or someone responsible for the fire as the system surveillance hard drives have been turned over to investigators.

“If there is movement they come on and they record. We have a 31 day looping system. It doesn’t go to a desk or video tape it goes directly in to a hard drive,” Jackson said.

Clues were found in the club suggesting that the arsonist(s) left a calling card as they marked the club floors, doors and games with signs.

According to the Club Envy’s MySpace site, there were two special upcoming events scheduled for the club: a Toga Party for April 18th and Stop Light Party set for April 26th.

Investigators are now asking anyone with information leading to the person(s) responsible for the club fire to contact Crimestoppers at 901-528-CASH.
