New Jersey (New York), Los Angeles, Birmingham and San Antonio; Memphis drew more registrants than them all this year making Memphis the largest turnout this year so far
The talented and not so talented showed up to prove to the world that they have what it takes to be an American Idol, but in all only about 2% of them actually made it to the next round. Producers confirmed that over 16,000 people registered with at least half of them being singers.
Nigel the producer of “American Idol” and “So You Think You Can Dance” stated that they are looking for those with the “It Factor” from those who made it to round 2. Sometime in October the third round will take place where Paula Abdul, Simon Cowell, and Randy Jackson will deliver their opinions and decide if contestants receive the “Golden Ticket” to Hollywood.
The actual airings are expected to start sometime in January of 07. Those auditioning at this stage will not be identified if they are called back, so you’ll have to wait it out just like everyone else to see who actually made it.
