On Saturday, a Memphis mother and her boyfriend were charged with child abuse after forgetting her sleeping five year-old child in the car.
The small child woke up and attempted to get in the house and then back into the car, but couldn’t. The little girl decided to strike off walking to her grandparents home almost three in a half miles away due to not being able to get in the home or car. The five year walked a little over a mile and was luckily picked up by a concerned man who spotted her walking through a gas station parking lot around 3 AM.
According to WREG, the driver took the little girl home, called the authorities and woke up her sleeping 28 year-old mother Jocelyn Temple.
Temple reportedly told authorities that her live-in boyfriend Keith Miller was supposed to get her daughter out of the car after arriving home late after a few drinks.
Meanwhile, neighbors are grateful and have been saying that the little girl is lucky she was picked up by someone who had her best interest and not looking to harm her.
Currently, Temple’s three children have been placed in the care of their grandparents.
Jocelyn Temple was charged with child abuse and neglect of a child under six with a bond of $10,000. Temple has since been released.
Keith Miller, who has been charged with the same charges, still sits behind bars. Miller is due in court on February 11th and March 25th.
