Juvenile’s Daughter and Her Mother Murdered; Son, 17, Charged and Arrested

The daughter, Jelani, 4, of rapper Juvenile, was found murdered along with her sister, Micaiah, 11, and mother, Sheriff’s Deputy Joy Deleston, 39. Deleston’s son, Anthony Tyrone Terrell Jr., 17, has been arrested and charged with the murder.

Anthony Tyrone Terrell Jr., 17, has been charged and arrested with the killing of his mother, Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Deputy Joy Deleston, 39, and his two sisters, Micaiah, 11, and Jelani, 4, who is the daughter of rapper Juvenile born Terius Gray, the former rap artist under Cash Money Records now Atlantic Records. According to police, Deleston’s 17 year old son confessed to the killing and they have recovered the gun that was used to kill Deputy Deleston and her two daughters. The gun was recovered by a dive team at an undisclosed body of water late Friday afternoon police stated.

According to reports, the bodies of the victims were found Thursday evening after someone reported hearing gunshots near the family’s two-story home at 415 Madison Chase Drive, in the Lawrenceville area of Gwinnett County, GA which is a part of the Atlanta Metropolitan Area. Officers found a bullet hole in a house, then checked Deleston house which was next door because they knew a deputy lived there. Deleston, a seven-year veteran of the department, was assigned to the Sex Offender unit and interacted with registered sex offenders, maintaining a database of their addresses in Gwinnett. Deleston also was an actress who appeared in locally produced films.

Deleston and her two daughters were all found by the Gwinnett County Police. The bodies were discovered on Thursday (Feb. 28).

“There was no answer, but lights were on,” officer David Schiralli said. “They opened the door a little bit to announce themselves.” That was when they discovered the bodies, Schiralli said.

Inside the front door, police found Micaiah lying dead on the floor and further inside they found Joy Deleston. Upstairs, the police discovered little Jelani’s body.

On Friday, Anthony Tyrone Terrell Jr. was being held in the DeKalb County Jail, Gwinnett police Cpl. Illana Spellman said to avoid conflict with Gwinnett County since his mother was an employee there. Anthony Tyrone Terrell was a sophomore at Central Gwinnett High School and was charged with three counts of murder and three counts of aggravated assault.

After the discovery of the bodies, Deleston 17 year-old son arrived at the house about 35 minutes later, reports stated. Police spokeswoman Illana Spellman said Anthony Tyrone Terrell Jr. was arrested after talking to investigators on Thursday.

All three victims are stated to have died of gunshot wounds, according to the Gwinnett County police.

Anthony Tyrone Terrell, Jr. who just turned 17 in January waived a first appearance on Friday. He is expected to appear in court for a preliminary hearing within the next week. Defense attorney Lyle Porter who is representing Anthony Tryone Terrell, Jr., declined to comment on the case.

A representative for rapper Juvenile also declined to comment.
