Judge Orders Tennessee to reconsider Riddick Bowe

A Davidson County judge Tuesday ordered Tennessee officials to reconsider former heavyweight champion Riddick Bowe’s application for a boxing license.

The reason for the former heavyweight champion being denied a license last October was due to doctor reports that Riddick Bowe had brain damage.

Although now, after serving an 18-month sentence for kidnapping his then-wife and five children, Bowe, now at age 37, is trying to revive his boxing career since his release from prison. He has only boxed twice since his release last spring.

Bowe currently does not have a fight scheduled, but boxing manager Jimmy Adams is trying to line the former heavyweight champion up for a fight every two to three weeks. The goal is to once again become a heavyweight champion in a title bout. If Tennessee grants a license, Adams said he would like Bowe to fight in Nashville in June and in Memphis in July.
