Household clothing brandnames Izod and Southpole will have to beat out legendary hip-hop mogul, Jay-Z for naming rights of the 26-year-old Meadowlands arena in New Jersey. The rights are currently held by Continental Airlines who shells out an estimated $600,000 a year to maintain the naming rights.

The New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority (NJSEA) facilitates the bidding process and expects to have a decision by October 4. “We’re looking forward to presentations by bidders next week, and then we’ll get into the process of evaluation,” commented an agency representative.

Sources revealed that the NJSEA expects to more than double the current amount paid by Continental Airlines with the next contract holder.

Jay-Z is looking to name the arena for his clothing line, Rocawear.
