According to reports famed celebrity jeweler “Jacob the Jeweler” known for creating pieces for top names in hip-hop and other famous celebrities will be standing trial in Detroit.
Jacob Arabov “Jacob the Jeweler”, 41, was arrested in June 2006 at his store in Manhattan on a warrant issued in Detroit where Federal authorities said he and 16 others conspired to launder approximately $270 million in drug profits for a Detroit-area based multi-state drug ring helping the alleged “Black Mafia Family”.
On Monday, Arabov’s lawyer tried to persuade prosecutors that his client should stand trial separately on the case and be tried in New York since it would not be fair for him to be alongside those facing drug charges and would cut his legal costs, however the judge refused.
Arabov has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
