Bail has been set for the 6 teen girls and 2 teen boys involved in the video taped beating of a fellow teen student, Victoria Lindsay.
The teens face felony kidnapping and misdemeanor battery charges and three of the teens also face a felony charge of witness tampering. Seven of the teens will be tried as adults with the youngest being 14 years-old. The eighth person, 18 year-old, Stephen Schumaker is considered an adult by law.
Mercades Nichols, 17, Brittini Hardcastle, 17, April Cooper, 14, Cara Murphy, 16, Britney Mayes, 17, Kayla Hassell, 15, Zachary Ashley, 17, and Stephen Schumaker, 18 could face life in prison for the beating and participation in the incident. Currently the teens face charges of battery, false imprisonment and kidnapping.
Because of the ages of the teens and sensitivity of the case, the judge has issued a gag order requiring everyone involved in the case to keep quiet.
Conditions for their release include the following:
* No contact with the victim or the victim’s family
* Stay away from the victim’s residence
* No Internet chat. No MySpace or You Tube
* No contact with the co-defendants or their families
* No statements about the case
* Curfew
* House Arrest
* No contact with Mary Nichols
* Daily call in
* May not leave home unless they’re coming to court
