Taylor Hicks, American Idol’s latest winner and 19/Arista Records’s newly $1 Million signed artist left behind his old band in Alabama as he set out for Hollywood to be an American Idol. At the time of his departure, they were called the Taylor Hicks Band, but they now have a new name: Little Memphis.
Well, actually, their full band name is the Little Memphis Blues Orchestra. The name comes from Memphis-native band member Brian Less, who is known as “Little Memphis.”
Hicks will be working with Clive Davis, known for his work with Whitney Houston and from his appearances on American Idol each season. Two of his singles “Do I Make You Proud” and “Takin’ It to the Streets” are set to be released in stores and through digital outlets on June 13.
