Published

on

Jennifer Sadler, a Memphis middle school student writes a 500 word essay and wins a visit from R&B multi-Grammy award winner, Erykah Badu, who earlier spoke with, News Channel 3's Alex Coleman as well did the student she met with.

Badu says, "I connected with her totally. We're kindred sisters because we feel the same way."

Sadler says, "I was really nervous when she called me. For some reason I couldn't say my name. I couldn't say hello. I just let her go ahead and talk."

Jennifer Sadler's 500 word essay was based on how music can heal the world from the tragic events of September 11th.

Erykah Badu performed her hit song "Bag Lady", then she sat down and talked with students giving them inspiration through words and song. It's a lesson Erykah Badu hopes will leave a lasting impression on students like Jennifer Sadler and all who listen.
