Memphis Music Commission Appoints New Chairman, Ralph Sutton, ”Memphis Has Incredible Talent”

Los Angeles native Ralph Sutton, 47, a recording engineer/ producer and studio operator who has worked with Stevie Wonder, Prince, Motley Crew, and Marvin Gaye, has taken his place as the new music commission chairman.

Shelby County Fire Department Lieutenant and music executive, Antonio “2 Shay” Parkinson, resigned from the Memphis and Shelby County Music Commission after serving a term as the music commission chairman, which was announced in a statement. Reportedly, Parkison wishes to focus more on his campaign for Memphis City Council District 1. Elections take place on October 4, 2007.

Sutton is stated to have left the Entertainment industry in Los Angeles to bring “funk” back to Memphis.
