Juan Manuel Marquez knocks out Manny Pacquiao is not the news that many people may have expected from the Manny Pacquiao vs. Juan Manuel Marquez fight over the weekend, Saturday night in Las Vegas, but it is true.
Manny Pacquiao was knocked out in the 6th round of the brutal brawl which left both fighters stunned and bruised.
Unable to win a decision in their first three fights between the boxers, Marquez surely broke the decision in this fourth battle with a right hand that put Pacquiao on the mat for the second time, sending Marquez celebrating in the arms of his team and leaving Pacquiao’s wife in tears.
“I threw a perfect punch,” says Marque, who admitted that Manny could have knocked him out at “any time.”
Will the fighters battle again? Likely, yes.
Though it could have been the end, there may be another Marquez vs. Pacquiao.
“If you give us a chance, we’ll fight again,” says Pacquiao, who admitted he got too confident and careless.
Before the knockout punch delivered by Marquez in the 6th round, Pacquiao, who earned more than $20 million for the fight, was ahead 47-46 on all three scorecards.
Though Marquez won, there was no title at stake, however, Marquez walked away with bragging rights and improved his record to 55-6-1 with 40 knockouts, while Pacquiao fell to 54-5-2.
In related news, Mitt Romney, along with wife Ann had ringside seats to the Juan Manuel Marquez knockout of the great Manny Pacquiao. Reports are now circulating that Mitt Romney may have jinxed Pacquiao before the fight by reportedly saying “Hello Manny. I ran for president. I lost.”
