Advocate, author, producer and actress Yolanda Denise King, the daughter of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., has died.
King was a member of the Board of Directors of the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change and also was the founding director of the King Center’s Cultural Affairs Program which is the national and official memorial of her father.
In leiu of being an activist, Yolanda King has also did some acting in films such as Liberty’s Kids, Funny Valentines, Ghosts of Mississippi, Drive by: A Love Story, King and others. In the 1978 miniseries “King,” she starred as Rosa Parks which was based on her father’s life and was released on DVD in 2005.
Her family has speculated that the potential cause of death was possibly heart related. Yolanda King was 51 at the time of her death.
