Are White Memphis Rap Artists Breaking Racial Boundaries?

In a recent report by Commercial Appeal’s Bill Ellis entitled “Rap, in black & white”, he interviews white rappers in Memphis who the article quotes as “Performers who do their part to tear down racial barriers”.

In the article, it states white lyricists are now putting their mark on the Memphis rap scene and they aren’t trying to cash in on Eminem’s crossover appeal. Featured in the cover story were rap artists King JC (Jeff Cage, left) who now purposefully shuns profanity on his albums as well as female rapper Denea (center) and King’s producing partner DJ Trick (right).
