Crunchy Black


Darnell Carlton (born August 20, 1974), better known as Crunchy Black of Three 6 Mafia was a longtime member of the Oscar-winning rap group until around 2006. Crunchy reportedly seperated from Three 6 Mafia over disputes involving his desire to pursue his solo career. Black debuted a solo album entitled On My Own on September 19, 2006. Crunchy has said the album was released by DJ Paul and Juicy J without his permission. Crunchys second solo album was entitled From Me To You and was also said to have been put out without his permission. From Me To You reached 12 on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart, 32 on the Top RB/Hip-Hop chart, and 10 on the Billboard Top Rap albums chart. On My Own reached 3 on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart, 163 on the Billboard 200, 15 on the Billboard Independent Albums chart, 28 on the Top RB/Hip-Hop chart, and 13 on the Billboard Top Rap Albums chart.

In 2013, Crunchy Black joined Da Mafia 6ix, which was proclaimed as a reuniting of former members of Three 6 Mafia including DJ Paul, Koopsta Knicca and Gangsta Boo.

Crunchy has a daughter named Ladee Pooh Carlton.

In 2015, Crunchy Black talked with MemphisRap.com about his next solo project entitled Money Ain’t Nuttin 2 Play Wit, featuring rapper Trick Daddy, KC (from K-Ci JoJo of Jodeci), Ying Yang Twins and his own label Hard Hittaz Money Gang artists.
