Cinco de Mayo is usually a time of drinking and having fun but one Colorado college student may have had too much to drink when he attempted to leap from the roof of a 3 story apartment building down to the swimming pool and missed, which landed the student on the concrete first before the pool. The incident was captured on videotape.
Ian Smith, a sophomore at Colorado State University, was in intensive care with multiple broken bones after he attempted a jump from the roof of an apartment complex in a swimming pool below but missed the pool landing on the concrete edge of the pool before rolling off into the pool.
In the video tape of the failed stunt, which was captured on a camera phone, Smith can be seen first standing on the roof as other students screamed out for him not to jump, followed by Smith throwing himself off the roof as he fell landing with a loud thud on the concrete edge of the pool.
After, students helped drag Smith’s badly injured body from the pool, he was taking by ambulance to the Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, where he was treated for multiple broken bones.
The incident happened at the Ram’s Village Apartments in Fort Collins, Colorado close to the Colorado State University campus.
