Two Memphis Redbirds Players Sign On To Play For The St. Louis Cardinals

Two minor league Memphis Redbirds players that are on their way to the majors — Jon Jay and Tyler Greene. Our St. Louis Cardinals made a few changes to their roster and had just enough room for these talented young men.

Jon Jay, the outfielder, will be making his first ever majors debut. Batting at .347 with 2 home runs, Jay was drafted in the 2nd round from University of Miami from 2006.

Redbird’s 26 year old Infielder Tyler Greene has played in 48 major league baseball games. He is batting a .275 so their is no question why the Cards are ready for him.

Tyler, who was drafted in the 1st round, was picked 30th overall in the 2005 draft. Jon will have the pleasure of wearing #15 while Greene sports #27. St. Louis had to place infielder Felipe Lopez on a 15-day disabled list, but the additions will be more than helpful.

We are so proud of our Memphis Redbirds players that are advancing on in their careers. For Jon, especially, this is an opportunity that he will never take for granted or forget. The city of Memphis will miss our players, but they sill represent us in the Cards uniform. We wish you both he best.
