Tennessee Titans Player O.J. Murdock Dead at 25, of Suicide, Police Say

Tennessee Titans player Orenthal James ‘O.J.’ Murdock, 25, has died this morning of an apparent suicide. The NFL wide receiver died of an apparent self inflicted gunshot wound, Tampa police say.

More details, according to the Tampa Police Department, reveal that Murdock was found in his car in front of Middleton High School – the Tampa high school he graduated from.

Apparently Murdock committed suicide this morning, but he was not dead when the police found him. Murdock was found in his car at approximately 8:30 a.m.

Murdock was taken to Tampa General Hospital in critical condition, but later was pronounced dead at 10:43 a.m.

According to reports, Murdock had missed Titans’ training camp last week, and did not report in due to personal reasons.

No further details have been released on whether Murdock was dealing with any prior issues.
