Suspensions All Around: The Update on the Phoenix Suns vs. Indiana Pacers Scuffle

Danny Granger of the Indiana Pacers and Channing Frye from the Phoenix Suns will be suspended for one game without pay for fighting in the March 6, 2010 game. Granger set out tonight against the 76ers and Frye will sit out Friday against the Lakers. “Go figure,” Suns coach Alvin Gentry said. “We’ll line up and play a game without him and we’ll get him back and go from there.”

In the Phoenix Suns victory of 133-105 over the Indiana Pacers on March 6th it seemed like a typical basketball game. This was the Suns 1,900 win in their franchise. Also, the Phoenix Suns Amare Stoudemire recorded his 3rd consecutive 30pt game for this season. It’s sad to say those great things were out-shadowed by an event that occurred later.

Tempers flared and, sadly, punches were thrown. Things were heated all throughout the game but it became more clear in the 3rd qtr with just 46.7sec left to go. Indiana Pacer’s guard Earl Watson pushed the Phoenix Sun’s Channing Frye. Danny Granger from the Pacers and Frye then swung at each other. Roy Hibbert and Jason Richardson quickly joined in and they both were hit with technical fouls. Frye was ejected.

“We have the reputation of being soft,” Watson said, “but we’re not going to give in to anybody.” Both teams kept yapping after the game. This type of thing happens every year at least one time. Last year Phoenix was involved also. Does there need to be anger management counseling required in Phoenix.. hmmmm??
