NCAA Men’s Basketball Planning to Expand March Madness to 68 Teams in 2011

The NCAA are planning to expand the men’s March Madness from 65 teams to 68 teams. The reason for this change is because it will most likely bring in more revenue and competition.

You can not deny that March Madness is the most exciting time of year. All the games, upsets, intensity that flows will only increase with the addition of 3 more teams. The meeting for this change is in May.

Also, the NCAA reached a new 14-yr $10.8 billion deal with CBS and Turner Broadcasting. That means that games will also air on TNT as well as other networks along with CBS.

“What is remarkable is that it is exclusively at the NCAA’s discretion regarding field size for the championship,” NCAA vice president Greg Shaheen said.

March 2011 can NOT come quick enough for me. With this addition, teams truely have to have the “Win or go home” attitude.
