Michael Finley On The Move To Beantown

Early Thursday morning, Michael Finley, 2-time all-star and former guard of the San Antonio Spurs, did confirm that he and the Boston Celtics reached an agreement for him to Join the team. “It’s official now” said Finley. “I’m soon to be a Celtic.” Finley, earlier this week, requested and received a buyout on his contract from the Spurs. Knowing that he has a lot more to offer, Finley wanted to free himself up for a better chance at a championship ring this year.

The soon-to-be 37yr older this Saturday knows his worths and abilities on the court. Known as a leader on the court and a humble presence in the locker room, we all know that Finley will be a great fit for Boston. Going to Boston, Finley, a 37.4% 3pt shooter, is extra offense and he will not be pressured because Boston is a winning franchise with proven veteran champs. Boston’s president of Basketball operations Danny Ainge stated earlier “I certainly don’t consider Mike Finley to be someone that’s going to make the difference in us winning the championship.”

“That’s why I keep the pressure on our starters for that reason.”

Head coach of Boston Doc Rivers has a personal connection with Finley as it seems the two grew up together and he thinks Finley becoming a Celtic is a great idea. “I don’t think a veteran ever hurts,” Doc said earlier this week when rumors began about Boston getting Finley. “I think it always helps your team to have one, if it’s the right one. Every team has some holes. Shooting is one thing we can’t have enough of as far as I’m concerned. You look at some of these other teams, their shooting is ridiculous.”

I know Finley is ready to be apart of the winningest franchise in championship history. There is no definite date when Finley will be lacing those shoe strings up and hopping into that green and white jersey filled with honor. As he makes his first debut and move out on the court, we know that Finley can not help but feel what Boston’s players feel all the time…. Celtic Pride.
