Memphis Grizzlies vs. Oklahoma City Thunder: The Last Game of the 2010 Season

The other night, the Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 114-105. This was the Grizzlies last game of the season so you know this game was a fight to the finish. Memphis was looking to end their season at .500, while the Thunder looked to a 50th win season.

Oklahoma started in on the Grizzlies pretty early trying to make it a blowout. The floor general for the Thunder Kevin Durant was the biggest reason for this win.

Durant was moving off of a surge to make history. In the 2nd quarter of the game, Kevin became the youngest all-time scoring leader averaging 30pts per game. The team was up by 25 at the half, but that would not last for long. When you give a team “life” they will come alive, and that’s what happened to Memphis. The Grizzlies came back in the 2nd half and got it down to as many as 3pts challenging the Thunders stability. But, in the end, the Thunder’s scoring leader got it going and pulled O.K. City away with their 50th win of the season.

“Every team in the West won 50 games to make the playoffs. We won 40,” coach Hollins said. “So we’ve got some games to go to get up there to where we need to be in order to be in the playoffs. But I’m happy with our growth, I’m happy with the individual growth and it’s over now and we move forward to next year.”

It was a exceptional year for the city of Memphis as our Grizzlies showed the world this is not a place where you can just come and think you will win. Next year may be the year for Memphis, meanwhile, the Thunder move on to the playoffs for the 1st time as they face the Los Angeles Lakers.
