Denver Nuggets coach George Karl likely to miss 1st Round of NBA Playoffs

A source close to Denver Nuggets coach George Karl, his life partner Kim Van Deraa, states that he will most likely miss the 1st round of the playoffs.

Karl has been battling a bout with throat and neck cancer for the past few months.

“To count out all the playoffs, that’s up to his body,” she said. “Who knows when his return will be? No one knows. He doesn’t even know. I’m sure he’s hoping that if we go on a playoff run, that he can (coach) this season.”

It seems that Karl nearly lost 25 lbs and has to be fed with a tube.

The Nuggets are in a battle on the court also. In a 2-way tie with the Dallas Mavericks, their record is currently at 52-27. This is the usual for the Western conference to be this close, so hopefully the Nuggets can get it together without their head coach until the 2nd round.

The playoffs start April 17 on TNT.
