78 Wins and Counting, The UConn Women to the Championship Game and Beyond

They have done it again…. but this time it was NOT so easy. The UConn Huskies pulled out a great win over the Stanford Cardinal of 53-47. When I say these ladies can play some ball I really mean they CAN play some ball. The Huskies were down in the first half as many as 18pts. It seemed as if they could not buy a basket, but they are not the type of team to panic.

Holding UConn to only 12 pts to end the half, Stanford looked outstanding. At the half it was clear what the Cardinals came here to do and that was to pull a huge upset. “It’s what great players do,” UConn’s coach Geno Auriemma said. “They do it at the most pressure-packed times that makes them who they are.”

Not only did UConn come back to regain the lead, but they ended their shooting slumps.

What more can you say about the Huskie Ladies? The Huskie’s are the 1st team in women’s NCAA tournament history to win back-to-back titles. Going 39-0 on the season, UConn is currently at 78 wins and counting….
