Another free agent made news during the holiday weekend. Left hander Joe Kennedy of the Toronto Blue Jays died Friday after passing out at his in-laws home in Florida. He was taken to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead. He is survived by his wife and their one year old son. Kennedy was 28 years old.

Cleveland Indians pitcher Juan Lara was involved in a serious automobile accident Saturday Night in his Dominican hometown. While at a traffic stop, a motorcycle operating at excessive speed hit Lara’s SUV driver side. He was severely injured and was taken to a Dominican hospital. He may have to be transported back to the US for surgery.

The Patriot’s almost got a scare on Sunday as the Eagles edged their way to within 3 points, but the Pats held on to win it (31-28), securing their undefeated status. NBC, however was the big winner, drawing in more than 18.3 million viewers for the nights game. That’s more than 15% of the country’s households. It was the highest rated Sunday Night Football showing in its 2-year broadcast history.
