His legal name is Aubrey Drake Graham, but the world simply calls him Drake. Moniker aside, at 29 years old he’s one of the biggest rappers in the game right now. The Canadian producer, singer, songwriter, and rapper got his start in the entertainment business playing Jimmy Brooks on the teen TV series Degrassi: The Next Generation. He left the show in 2007 to start his rap career, and the rest is literally history. Following the debut of his three widely acclaimed independent mixtapes — Room for Improvement, Comeback Season, and So Far Gone — he signed with Lil Wayne’s Young Money Entertainment in 2009 and his career skyrocketed.
So, how did Drake make his meteoric rise to fame? For one thing, he truly is a talented lyricist and he has a knack for creating music that vibes with a wide spectrum of people. Moms at the gym, middle and high school kids, businessmen, young adults, and even middle aged people can all be found listening to Drake’s music and enjoying it. The wider the appeal, the more money a rapper stands to make, and that’s definitely been an advantage for Drake. Another key lies in who he’s allied with throughout the years. Not only has working with rappers such as Bun B, Lil Wayne, Eminem, and Jay Z given him street cred, but more buzz and fame. Never one to limit himself, Drake has been featured on songs with superstars Beyonce and Rihanna as well, which definitely amped up his appeal with the ladies. In 2015, he notably collaborated with popular rapper Future to release a mixtape, What a Time to Be Alive.
On his road to music stardom, Drake has enjoyed performing at world famous venues, a Grammy win, endorsement and product deals with international companies including Sprite, Canada Goose, and Air Jordan, and being named one of the “most stylish men” alive by GQ. Drake has also had a successful foray into the business world, and he serves as global ambassador for the Toronto Raptors. Drake got his start acting and hasn’t completely stepped away from the screen, as he’s had roles in a number of TV shows and movies including 2011’s Breakaway, Ice Age: Continental Drift, Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, and Think Like a Man Too.
All of this means that not only is Drake a huge star and a very busy man, but he’s amassed an impressive amount of wealth. It’s estimated that Drake’s net worth is currently $100 million. That’s quite a sum, but he’s still making moves in the music industry and with his business ventures to make that number climb even higher. If Drake wanted to add more zeros to his bank account while kicking back and taking a break from making hits, he could play games at Red Flush Casino. The world knows he likes to party and go on vacay, and he could even try his luck at a mobile casino then. Whatever he chooses to do, one thing is for sure: Drake’s success isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
