Yesterday on Sunday (Feb. 10, 2013), tornadoes whirled through southern Mississippi causing Gov. Phil Bryant to declare a State of Emergency.

Multiple Mississippi counties, at least, were apart of the issued State of Emergency due to the severe storms and tornadoes including Forrest, Lamar, Lawrence and Marion.

Significant damage was reported in Hattiesburg, home to the University of Southern Mississippi, where University police declared a state of emergency urging students and others off campus to stay away until cleared.

At least 60 people, so far have been reported injured in the aftermath of the tornadoes which caused widespread damage, state officials say.

According to a survey conducted Monday by the National Weather Service, the tornado had wind speeds up to 145 mph, and was rated an EF-3 on the tornado intensity scale.
