Rapper DJ Paul of Three 6 Mafia who was arrested for carrying an open beer and a taser after leaving a Manhattan restaurant on Sunday (Oct 14) has responded to the incident.
According to celebrity gossip site TMZ, DJ Paul stated that he wasn’t aware that carrying a taser around New York City was illegal.
DJ Paul was arrested following an outing at a local restaurant and left the establishment with an open (Corona). Paul was approached by officers who questioned him about carrying the container, as reported on MemphisRap.com, and went on to inform the officers that he has a taser on him.
DJ Paul was arrested and later released for an open container violation and misdemeanor possession of a weapon.
Meanwhile, DJ Paul thought that the taser was on the same scale as pepper spray and feels that he shouldn’t be considered a criminal.
As for the reason as to why DJ Paul was carrying the taser, he stated that it was because his bodyguard wasn’t with him and he was by himself in New York and anything can happen during the late hours there.
Furthermore, DJ Paul who plead not-guilty hopes to keep his record squeaky clean and says he doesn’t want anything this minor to dirty it up.
“I wasn’t carrying it to go out and harm someone,” stated DJ Paul.
In other news, DJ Paul is gearing up to release his album “A Person of Interest” and will be hitting up Spin Street in Memphis, TN on the day of it’s release, October 22, 2012 from 6PM – 9PM.
